Tastes of Provence...tour with Jennifer Dugdale

Today I went on a gourmet walking tour of Aix en Provence with an amazing woman!  Jennifer's business is called Tastes of Provence and her tours are excellent.  She takes you to vendors where she tells you about the people and their products.  The vendors are true artisans.  Josie surprised us part way through the tour...just in time to enjoy some of the delicious products!  We learned about french pastries, honey, spices, herbs, salt, sausage, olives, garlic, aoli, salted cod, couscous, some history of France, Aix and provence, macaroons, coffee, ice cream, lavendar, saffron, goat cheese...and much more.

One of our first stops in the grand marché was the paella man.

Then we had sausage...duck and bull were delicious!

Salt cod

The most amazing garlic!

Caroline makes the best macaroons in Aix!

Squash blossoms are in season

Our final treat was goat cheese.

Here's our fabulous guide explaining the cheeses we tried.

I learned a lot about the food, people, history, culture and customs of France and in particular Aix-en-Provence.  Yum!
